FORT WAYNE – October is National Residents’ Rights Month highlighting the rights of long-term care residents. Marking this observance is the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program’s (LTC Ombudsman Program) annual event the “Power of Together.”
Slated for Thursday, October 24th from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Parkview Field’s Suite Level Lounge, this fundraiser will highlight the LTC Ombudsman Program’s mission and resident advocacy. The night will include dinner, drinks, a silent auction, raffle and live music by Adam Strack.
“October is such a great month for the program,” said LTC Ombudsman Program Executive Director Zanzy Lewis. “It just so happens to be National Residents’ Rights Month. There is no better way to raise awareness and celebrate our advocates than this event. We are ecstatic to see everyone there!”
The LTC Ombudsman Program, a nonprofit serving Allen County and nine area counties, advocates for residents of long-term care facilities who feel their rights are being violated. The organization addresses care-related issues and empowers residents and family members to advocate for themselves or their loved one.
“We are stoked for this year’s fundraiser,” said Lewis. “Last year our ‘Amplify Our Voices’ had such a great turnout and we’re expecting even bigger and better this year. The community surrounding the LTC Ombudsman Program is unmatched and we wouldn’t be able to do this without their support.”
“Amplify Our Voices,” last year’s theme, raised more than $7,000 in the silent auction alone. Community members, volunteers and other supporters were on hand to hear stories of the ongoing work the organization does and the impact it has on the residents it serves. Participants of last year’s event can expect a similar night of activities and dinner.
Tickets are on sale now starting at $25 and can be purchased online at www.doingthegood-ombudsman.org/events.
